Norris Sales Company Inc.

60 years of family-owned and -operated equipment sales, service and rentals

For 60 years, Norris Sales Company Inc. has been a one-stop shop specializing in the sale, service and rental of construction equipment throughout the mid-Atlantic region. Headquartered in Conshohocken, Pennsylvania, Norris Sales also has a branch location in Sicklerville, New Jersey.Norris Sales Company Inc.

Founded in 1956, Norris Sales is owned by Don and Rachel Zajick along with their daughter Karen Zajick. “We support every type of contractor out there, from utility to site work, building and in between,” says Karen. “Our goal has always been to offer a full-service shop that satisfies all of our customer’s needs.”

A new home

In order to maintain the quality service that Norris Sales has constantly provided to its valued clients, the company recently relocated its headquarters to a brand new facility in Conshohocken. The 55,000-square-foot facility was built on 6 acres of land and is almost double the size of the company’s previous location. The new facility includes a showroom that is able to hold three times the amount of products, as well as nine service bays that house two five-ton overhead bridge cranes and two-ton jibs.

With the new location, Norris Sales was able to bring all departments under the same roof, including a 17,500-square-foot warehouse. This has translated to a better experience for customers as well as employees. “We’re definitely enjoying having most of our products in one space,” says Karen. “We have always strived to be able to fulfill all of our customers’ needs. With our new warehouse we are proud to say that we have the facility to accomplish that.”

Norris Sales is constantly seeking out new trends in the industry as well as methods to increase its capabilities and services to its customers. The company has recently become a full distributor for the Link-Belt excavation product line, which includes excavator and materials handling products. “For us it’s a new solution that we can present to our customers that adds to the diversity of the products we offer for rental and sale,” Karen explains. “The excavators are much bigger machines than we have distributed in the past.” The new facility allows Norris Sales to stock the Link-Belt 210 X3 excavator, which has an operating weight of 47,840 lbs.

A history of service and loyalty

As a company that has been in business since 1956, Norris Sales has established a loyal customer base with a reputation of providing exceptional service. The top priority at Norris Sales is that every customer is completely satisfied with their experience, whether a first-time client or a customer of 30 years. “We are only successful if our customers are successful,” says Karen. “We take pride in providing a one-stop shop for all of our customer’s needs. Not only can they buy all of their equipment, safety supplies and tools from us, but we also have a fully stocked parts department, factory-authorized service technicians and safety training.”

Strong employee retention is another asset of Norris Sales. The company has numerous employees with 30-plus years on the job. This has helped create solid relationships between customers and associates. “Our service manager, operations supervisor and my father have been with the company since the early ‘70s,” Karen explains. “When you have employees that have been in the industry for a long time and understand the customer experience, it really benefits all parties involved.” Karen joined the family business in 2001. After a successful career in accounting and other ventures, she decided to bring her business experience to Norris Sales.

Norris Sales has maintained a “slow and steady growth” business model with an emphasis on incorporating new product lines into its inventory and upgrading facilities. “We will always focus on being able to respond to our customers’ needs and demands,” Karen explains. “As those things come to the forefront, we will remain proactive in discovering new product lines that are innovative and will increase their productivity.”

Karen maintains an optimistic perspective of the economy and future of the construction industry. “For what we’re witnessing globally compared to the industry in the Northeast, we have a very strong market,” she says. “We’re looking forward to continued positive growth.” As new and innovative technologies infiltrate the industry, Norris Sales Company Inc. will remain a leader in supply, distribution and service in the construction equipment industry.
