MH Williams Construction Group Inc.

Personal and Collaborative Construction Management Service

In 1987, Michael Williams Sr. (Mike Sr.) founded MH Williams Construction Group Inc. (MHW) with the goal of providing leading construction management, general contracting and design-build services to clients in the Southeast United States. For over 25 years, the company has grown steadily by building lasting relationships with customers in a number of sectors. The full-service company has promoted value engineering for decades With Mike Sr.’s son, Michael Williams Jr., having joined the business in 2008, the team will continue to offer cost efficient and time efficient construction services throughthe next generation.

Mike Sr. is a professional engineer, certified general contractor and a certified owner’s representative. His broad experience has allowed him to better understand all aspects of the construction process. He and his team easily build relationships with strategic partners, including architects, engineers and owners. Mike Sr. values communication and makes every effort to ensure all participants in a project understand the process and time frame. His leadership team shares these values, guiding the experienced crew through complex commercial and industrial construction projects throughout Florida.

Taking Care of Business

With just under 20 employees, MHW is able to control quality and cost better than many larger construction firms. The company works through face time, collaborating directly with owners and, designers, engineers and subcontractors to offer a final product that meets the needs of end users while proactively managing time and resources. MHW relieves stress from the equation while reducing cost, improving productivity and ensuring an outcome that owners are happy with and strategic partners are proud to contribute to.

The company has worked with clients all over the commercial and industrial sectors, including manufacturers, automotive retailers, restaurateurs, medical service providers, schools, governments and more. Recent projects include a Ford dealership in Bellevue, completed in June 2013 as well as a Total Wine store, a liquor retailer. The team has performed several projects for the Florida institute of Technology in recent years, including a food service facility, parking garage, an aquatic center as well as the school’s Harris Center for Science and Engineering.

“One of our most interesting projects has been pretty unusual,” Mike Sr. adds. “It’s called the National Elephant Center in Fellsmere, Fla. This is a nonprofit supported by zoos across the country that provides short-term and long-term care for elephants either in between homes or that are retired. We constructed a huge barn with massive pens for the animals. We also worked to construct separated pastures for the elephants to hang out in outside.”

Market Management

MHW remains stable, despite the recent recession. By closely managing resources and carefully selecting projects, the team maintained its staff even while profit margins were down. “We finally get to use the word backlog,” Mike Sr. laughs. The crew has a number of upcoming projects for the next few years. One is a corporate headquarters for Sitcom Direct, an aviation communications company. MHW will be working closely with engineers to construct a 25,000-square foot building at the Melbourne airport in Melbourne, Fla. Mike Sr. and his team are also working with Living Waters Church in Bonita Springs, Fla., which has recently purchased a former Target store and will be reconstructing the space to serve the congregation.

With strong and tight management in place, MHW continues to grow steadily. Mike Sr. and his team are excited about a number of complex, upcoming projects in the changing market. Mike Jr., who spent years racking up experience elsewhere before returning to the family business, is offering some fresh innovation for the business. His LEED certification and Green Contractor Certification have allowed the team to expand within existing markets, offering environmentally conscious practices and design elements to customers. As green building standards increase and improve, MHW is well prepared to take on these new challenges for low-impact building.

In addition to the company’s continued innovation, MHW has received high praises from clients and partners for integrity and honesty. Customers are involved throughout each project and no final product offers an unpleasant surprise at commissioning. The rapidly growing business is the alternative for clients who want to be involved with insight and input for projects. The team strives to provide clients with a unique experience of efficient management and best value.

All of these qualities meld together to build a strong environment surrounding each project. The MHW approach revolves around collaboration. All members of the team, including clients and strategic partners, work toward a common strategic goal that MH Williams Construction Group coordinates through collaboration, innovation and integrity.
