Miller has established a diverse and robust portfolio, which has made the firm one of the most well-known companies throughout Texas. Headquartered in Dallas, Henry S. Miller maintains regional offices in Houston, Austin, San Antonio and El Paso, Texas, as well as an office in New Mexico.

Getting started

Founded in 1914, Henry S. Miller remains a family-owned and -operated company built on traditions that have stood the test of time. Since the firm was founded by Henry S. Miller, three additional generations of the Miller family have become involved in the family business.

In the 1930s, Henry S. Miller began working for his father’s business and after returning from World War II, formed an official partnership the senior Miller. With palpable optimism in Dallas, Henry S. Miller would become an integral factor of the post-war industrial growth the city would experience. Henry S. Miller Jr. would continue to lead with his father and draw industry leaders to the firm. In 1960, he became CEO of the company and went on to mentor future company and industry leaders of the company, including NFL quarterback, Roger Staubach, who began working for the company in the offseason. Upon winning the Super Bowl in 1972, Staubach received a letter from Henry S. Miller Jr. which stated, “Congratulations on winning the Super Bowl, you are now vice president of the company.”

Due to the vision set forth by the earlier generations, Henry S. Miller has diversified its services throughout the industry. With its retail brokerage division, Henry S. Miller provides services across Texas in representing both tenants and landlords to achieve their real estate objectives. Within its brokerage division, the company also offers office tenant representation, corporate and industrial services, and an investment and land division.

Other companies under the umbrella of Henry S. Miller include Henry S. Miller Property Management (HSMPM), Henry S. Miller Appraisal & Consulting LLC, The Henry S. Miller Banking Group, Miller Realty Investment Partners Inc. and Henry S. Miller Development.

Current leadership

Miller graduated from Southern Methodist University in 1989 with a Bachelor of Science degree and earned a Juris Doctor degree from Southern Methodist University School of Law in 1995. “I’m very proud to continue on the tradition and legacy that I have been blessed with,” says Miller. “I’m a beneficiary of the great work that my ancestors have done. The greatest pleasure for me is to continue to honor the legacy that my dad and grandfather and great- grandfather created. I hope to contribute to it lasting another 100 years so my children and grandchildren will someday be celebrating our 200-year anniversary.”

Miller has always been involved in the family business and has been full active in the day-to-day operations since 2002.  “When you’re in business for more than 100 years, especially in the real estate industry, you’re going to be a part of the city’s history,” says Miller. “My great-grandfather worked on a lot of properties that are still in existence in downtown Dallas.”

In 1914, Henry S. Miller Sr. was involved in the transaction for the lease of the Neiman Marcus Building, which became the corporate headquarters and flagship store of Neiman Marcus, an American luxury department store. In 1976, the company purchased Highland Park Village. Built in 1931, Highland Park Village was the first shopping center of its kind in the U.S. “At the time we bought it, the building was pretty run-down,” says Miller. “My father and grandfather renovated it and converted into a high-end fashion icon.”
