Chicago-based contractor provides turnkey solutions for home restorations

Since its inception in 2009, American Dream Home Improvement (ADHI) has doubled in size and revenue every year to become a leading premier contractor in the Midwest and beyond. Through a number of marketing techniques, ADHI has found that word-of-mouth coupled with door-to-door sales has been the most effective for the company in promoting its exponential growth. “We’ve dabbled with a number of different methods from radio to direct mail to televised advertising,” says Mesch. “Having our guys out there in trucks going door to door has really worked. Our quality of work really speaks for itself, so we receive a lot of customer referrals.”

ADHI’s work has not gone unnoticed by suppliers in the industry. Last year the company was recognized by Owens Corning Roofing and Asphalt for outstanding achievement at the 2014 Platinum Preferred Roofing Contractor awards ceremony in Las Vegas. The ceremony recognized five top Platinum Preferred Roofing Contractors who lead the country in purchase volume of Owens Corning roofing products. This was the second consecutive year that ADHI received the prestigious award.

In order to become part of the Owens Corning Roofing Platinum Preferred Contractor program, members must first meet a rigorous set of criteria to be accepted into the Preferred Roofing Contractor network. From there, those that reach the elite distinction of becoming recognized as a Platinum Preferred Roofing Contractor gain exclusive advantages. The platinum level provides deeper business relationships and engagement between platinum contractors, and allows for the development of more beneficial products for customers, programs and marketing tools.

Communication builds partnerships

In creating such a strong reputation within the industry, ADHI has been able to do so with help from its solid network of subcontractors and suppliers. The company completes nearly 2,000 projects per month and relies on subcontractors for the majority of the work. While ADHI maintains a database of subcontractors, the company is always looking to establish relationships with new strategic partners.

Mesch says that communication among employees, clients and subcontractors is a driving force behind ADHI’s success. The company has designed and implemented its own customer relationship management (CRM) software, which is used not only by ADHI, but also everyone who partners with the company. “After using and testing several CRMs, we decided that our model was incredibly unique compared to what other companies were using and that it would be best to create our own software. This software has been a springboard to our success and is a direct example of how and why ADHI leads the industry in innovation,” shares Mesch.

In a niche market such as insurance restoration, many clients that ADHI works with are in tough situations. Their homes have been damaged and the process of repairing them can be a confusing and stressful ordeal. Mesch takes pride in knowing that his company is helping people through the process and producing high-quality results. He is also proud to know that ADHI is providing jobs for its employees and helping them raise their families. “We’re a relatively young company and it’s important to know that our employees can put food on the table,” he says. “It’s all about keeping smiles on people’s faces and knowing that they are bettering themselves professionally and personally.”

To date, ADHI has completed nearly 100,000 projects nationally. The firm backs its quality commitment with a lifetime workmanship warranty and is dedicated to meeting the stringent requirements of both homeowners and insurance companies.

Giving back

ADHI also enthusiastically gives back to the communities in which it operates. In addition to contributing to national organizations such as the American Cancer Society and Autism speaks, ADHI donates to local groups in their communities such as youth sports leagues. The company plans to continue internal growth and the expansion of its geographical footprint. ADHI is contemplating opening offices in Atlanta, Dallas, Pittsburgh, Oklahoma City, Orlando and Charlotte. “We have sent out surveys to our employees to get a feel for who might be interested in relocating,” says Mesch.
