Trigon Inc. has been a go-to Oklahoman construction management firm for more than 30 years. Though moderately sized, the Tulsa-based firm says it has stood apart even aside larger firms by lavishing attention on every client and project. Also contributing factors: efficiency on the job site and attention to detail; and focusing on projects in education, religion, finance, healthcare and historical restoration.
Trigon’s experience with delivery methods has supported the company’s transition from general contracting to construction management.
“Although we still occasionally build as a general contractor, about 95 percent of our work is construction management,” says Steve Ryan, president of Trigon. “Our mission is to provide the highest quality construction management services to both public- and private-sector clients to help them achieve their construction program in an ethical, creative and cost-effective manner.”
Proving that bigger isn’t always better when it comes to quality service, Trigon contributes personal attention to every project, with upper management maintaining involvement and availability.
“Some large owners doubt us when they first look at the size of our company,” says Ryan. “All they need to look at is our portfolio and track record to see that we are capable of handling anything that comes our way.”
Locally owned, Trigon’s is backed through certifications with the Construction Manager Certification Institute and the Green Building Certification Institute.
Beginning in October 2012, Trigon became involved in a full-scale assessment of Ardmore City School in Ardmore, Oklahoma. Over a year, Trigon worked in collaboration with Norman, Oklahoma-based AIP Architects to find that the school system was in need of approximately $76 million worth of upgrades and renovations.
“In Oklahoma, schools have to pass bonds in order to receive any construction money,” Ryan explains. “We found that Ardmore had not passed a bond in nine years.”
Through the assessment, it was discovered that the school system was in need of improvements to classrooms, technology, roofs and athletic facilities. “We took the assessment and bundled everything into individual projects,” recalls Ryan. “We placed financial numbers with those projects and then in 2013 got the bond passed.”
The bond generated approximately $22 million in construction funds for Ardmore City Schools. All renovations and improvements for the school district are expected to be completed by summer 2016.

Joining Trigon in 2002, Ryan was a project manager for the company before becoming president in January 2016. He graduated with a degree in civil engineering from Oklahoma State University in 1995 and has overseen numerous multimillion-dollar construction projects in many sectors and industries.
Ryan maintains a simple philosophy regarding the “slow and steady” pulse of the company, which has proven to be effective. “The most important thing to me is to ensure that we keep building things and my employees have work every day,” he shares. “That is how we maintain success and stability. We have some of the best people in the business and that allows us to remain competitive with the larger firms.”
Ryan is proud of his company’s customer service. Trigon tends to only accept work from clients that are located within a two-hour drive from the company’s home office. With the Ardmore City Schools approximately three hours away, Trigon opened an office in the town in stay in contact.
“Opening the office in Ardmore has made me realize how great my team really is,” says Ryan. “We had to go through a few superintendents when we opened the new office. They were good and their resumes were impressive but they were used to working with bigger firms where responsibility is delegated a lot more.”
As Trigon turns 32 this year, Ryan is settling into his position as president. With excitement for the future, he hopes to leave a legacy that will pave the way for the next generation to continue to innovate and operate with the same vision and core values that has established Trigon as a leader in the local industry. With the ability to complete large-scale jobs while providing personal attention, Trigon Inc. remains Oklahoma’s go-to locally owned construction management firm.
