Founded in 1986 by Wayne Bogart, TMW & Associates Inc. (TMW) is a general contracting firm located in Stockton, California. The company provides turnkey general contracting and design-build architectural services to clients in both the private and public sectors.
TMW, which was initially divided between three partners, is now wholly owned by Wayne, who serves as company president and is responsible for procurement of new business. Because of its recognition and credibility in the northern California construction market, the company retained its original name throughout the change of hands.
“We have become a very recognized and established business in the greater Stockton area, so keeping our name in tact only made sense,” says Wayne. “Our continuing efforts to utilize the most advanced construction and project management technology, progressive education of our employees and the use of practical construction experience keeps us among the top commercial builders in northern and central California.”
The company takes pride in providing quality service to its loyal clientele, including national corporations, local businesses, municipalities, school districts, developers and owners and builders.
“By following the cornerstone qualities of successful construction projects – integrity, professionalism, efficiency and value – we have built a reputation of quality and specialized service,” Wayne explains. “I founded TMW on these principles nearly 28 years ago of and we have never wavered from them.”
Creating unique spaces
The company, which has grown almost entirely from referral business, boasts an extensive portfolio of clients both big and small. In order to provide unique solutions to all its clients, TMW utilizes a wide range of construction methods and types, including competitive plan and specification bids, turnkey design-build collaboration and Integrated Project Delivery utilizing state-of-the-art Building Information Modeling (BIM).
“We work closely with design professionals and owners in a team work approach to design-build components and construct high-quality projects using the most economical methods of construction,” says Wayne.
TMW has several projects on the books, including a design-build project for a private gymnastics studio. The two businesses have worked together over the course of 2014 to create a unique and functional 14,000-square-foot space and construction is scheduled to be complete in early 2015.
The company’s ability to provide custom solutions to customers, while staying in line with budget expectations, has won TMW contracts with nationally recognized clients, such as La-Z-Boy, which has been a client of the design-build firm for over 20 years. TMW has completed several projects for the home-furnishings giant’s Northern California branches, with its most recent projects in Bakersfield, Santa Clara and under construction in Fairfield.
TMW has also entered the aviation market—creating a stunning 35,000-square-foot jet hangar in Byron, California. The hangar, which is owned by the Patriots Jets Team, is named the Hangar of Dreams and houses all of the aircrafts belonging to the team. Uniquely, the hangar also serves as a think-tank, classroom and event space for the Patriots Jet Team Foundation, which raises money to support the sciences in schools.
In addition to design-build architecture projects, TMW caters to industrial, commercial and historic renovation projects and its services include general construction, project management, LEED assistance and solar energy solutions.
Industry involvement
In order to stay abreast of industry trends and regulations, TMW is a member of several trade organizations, including the Builders’ Exchange of Stockton – a professional, non-profit association of general and subcontractors, construction material dealers and other related businesses who have joined together to promote ethical and professional business practices in the construction industry.
“The Builders’ Exchange of Stockton connects us with other industry leaders and helps us stay at the forefront of our business,” says Wayne. “The organization also provides members-only educational programs, supplies up-to-date information on building codes and provides a database for new clients looking for licensed, local contractors.”
Dedicated to sustainable construction TMW is also a member of the United States Green Building Council (USGBC), an organization comprised of 2,800 member organizations and 193,000 LEED professionals that believe in and actively participate in the green building movement.
Like many other contractors, TMW faced hard times during the recession and was forced to realign its business strategy to meet market demands. Although TMW downsized its staff, the company’s reputation for performing at the very highest level, has allowed it to regain its market share and take on more team members.
An extensive array of projects and exacting standards of practice make TMW & Associates Inc. a versatile choice for contracting needs in Northern and Central California.
