RGB Mechanical Contractors Inc.

Continuing the Brasher Family Tradition of Building Relationships and Quality Systems

Ralph Brasher, founder of RGB Mechanical Contractors Inc. (RGB), passed his legacy onto the next generation in 2009. Brothers Greg and Blake Brasher, president and vice president of RGB, respectively, are now at the helm as second generation leaders. “When my father passed away, my brother and I stepped in to take over the family-owned and -operated business,” shares Greg. “Blake and I have worked to carry on what my father started.”

After growing up in the business, keeping the full-service mechanical contracting firm in the family was a priority for the Brasher brothers. “My father founded RGB in 1979 and it’s the only job I’ve known since,” explains Greg. “I started working for my father when I was just 12 years old. I graduated from college and started full-time in the office when I was 22 years old. I can’t imagine things any other way.”

Trusted Relationships

The past 34 years has led RGB to grow into a regional leader, licensed in its home of Jonesboro, Ark., as well as throughout Missouri, Tennessee, Mississippi and Alabama. The company employs over 125 professionals, whom are an integral part of the family-centered environment. RGB’s staff combines academic training, skilled engineering and extensive field experience to bring clients trusted service. The company goes the extra mile to provide superior service based in lasting relationships with customers and employees alike.

RGB’s mechanical contractors excel in the commercial, heavy industrial and medical construction fields specializing in process piping, equipment erection, plumbing, instrumentation, ventilation, acoustical ceilings, electrical, complete HVAC service and installation and maintenance.

“Our advantage is our longevity and diverse capabilities,” remarks Greg. “RGB’s been around since 1979; we’re well respected in Arkansas and surrounding areas. We have our own sheet metal fabrication shop and we also self perform over 95 percent of our work in-house.”

On the Cutting Edge

Despite the company’s age of experience, the team at RGB maintains a competitive edge with innovation. “We’ve implemented some of the most cutting edge technology in the industry,” shares Greg. “Our state-of-the-art equipment allows us to perform highly technical jobs.” From health care facilities to universities and stadiums to video surveillance, RGB has delivered hundreds of projects on time and on budget.

With an in-house sheet metal division, RGB covers a wide range of systems, including hospitals, office buildings, retail stores and residential structures. The on-site sheet metal shop provides custom design-build metal fabrication for stainless steel, hot roll, aluminum galvanization and PVC. RGB is a full service dealer for Rheem, Trane, York, McQuay and Carrier heating and cooling equipment, as well as Climate Master geothermal units.

Close to home in Jonesboro, RGB completed full HVAC and plumbing installations in August 2011 at the St. Bernard’s Medical Center Health and Wellness Institute. In partnership with the general contracting firm, Nabholz Construction Services, the 55,000-square-foot, $1.9 million project spanned over 10 months.

Operating as an electrical, HVAC and plumbing subcontractor, RGB completed another landmark health care facility in Paragould, Arkansas. The $1.1 million Arkansas Methodist Medical Center Chateau on the Ridge consisted of 52,000 square feet and 59 assisted-living units. From September 2010 to March 2012, RGB completed a complete HVAC system along with electrical utilities and plumbing.

RGB has the diversity to work in conjunction with general contractors as a subcontractor, but the company also has the means to tackle multimillion dollar jobs on its own. “We’re currently involved in over $4.3 million in renovations at Arkansas State University,” reveals Greg. “We’re doing a complete HVAC remodel at Kay’s Hall in Jonesboro as the general contractor on-site.”

RGB is responsible for mechanical, sheet metal, electrical and acoustical ceiling restoration on an 11-story dormitory at the university, which is scheduled to be complete by August 2013. “We’re installing new heating and cooling systems in every room,” adds Greg. “When the students come back to the dormitory in the fall they will be welcomed by a much more comfortable indoor environment.”

After 34 years in business, Greg admits the recent economic downturn has made access to a skilled labor force more challenging for RGB. “The biggest struggle for us has been fighting to find quality field labor,” he admits. “Since we perform 95 percent of work in-house, good people are critical. The lack of labor has made it difficult to grow so we’re just trying to maintain our place in the market.”

Running RGB’s electrical division is Greg Rollins, who has been with the company for over 17 years. Additionally, Ronnie Gibson has run RGB’s sheet metal division for over 32 years. “Without these two guys, it would be impossible to do the volume of work that we do,” Greg says proudly.

With the support of his highly capable team, Greg is optimistic that the company has both the experience and reputation to pull through any bump in the road. “I think we’ll be busy through the third quarter of 2013,” he says. “Things are starting to look up.” RGB Mechanical Contractors Inc. continues to build on the groundwork Ralph Brasher put in place by providing high quality products and installations with superior customer service centered on personal relationships.
