Today the Reed’s Metals operates out of locations in Brookhaven, Miss., Tupelo and Lake Charles, La., and Benton, Ark. “We’ve grown immensely over the years,” reveals “We stock a large inventory, including a six roofing panel profiles in 23 colors. The company manufactures a broad range of roofing panels for residential and commercial applications, from classic 5-V panels to more advanced Secure and Perma Lock products, Reed’s Metals has the variety and stock to meet any demand. “Inventory is one of our biggest expenses because we carry a great deal of product,” says Bernie.

“All of our colors are energy star rated to ensure whatever panel you chose is going to be efficient,” adds Bernie. “Not only does this save on energy costs for our customers, it also often qualifies for a $500.00 tax credit.”

Aside from roofing panels, Reed’s Metals also manufactures all of the components of a quality roofing system. “We sell all of the finishes that make a roof not only look more complete, but also make it more wind and weather resistant,” explains Bernie. “We also stock insulation, roll-up doors and we can build custom trim to fit your exact need. We generally do about 300-small metal builds annually.”‘

This past year, the company manufactured the roofing for a church which was shipped all the way to Africa and the unit for a high-end gym in its hometown of Brookhaven. “With state-of-the-art software equipment we’re able to perform a wide range of projects and meet the needs for nearly any customer who comes to us,” says Bernie.

Bernie admits stocking such a large inventory and array of product has been a bit of a guessing game with the onset of the economic downturn. “It was kind of like rolling the dice,” he says. “We decided to keep our inventory levels up and continued to advertise the same amount that we always have. We came out of it and business has been booming ever since.”

Bernie’s hands-on leadership and management style might have something to do with the company’s success amid a troublesome economy. “I want my customers to be served by an experience, knowledgeable and friendly team, from our phone sales to delivery on the job site,” he stresses. “Attention to detail and personal engagement are a huge part of our business.
