Flooring Resources Corp

Good Service, Quality and Accountability

Flooring Resources Corporation (FRC) in Elk Grove, Ill., has its customers and community covered. As a union commercial contractor serving the Chicago metropolitan area, FRC focuses on providing superior results to customers. The team delivers by never compromising good service, quality products and guaranteeing accountability. In addition, the company strives to have a positive effect on its community through supporting scores of charitable organizations and adhering to green business practices, as FRC reclaimed and recycled 1.7 million pounds of carpet in 2012 alone.

Keith Krueger, CEO of FRC, founded the company in 1992. Krueger continues to run the business with George Spanske, president of FRC, today. With all the latest and greatest products in stock, customers are treated to variety along with a full-coverage experience; FRC provides everything that a customer will need during any flooring project from start to finish.

Trusted One-stop Shop

To start, FRC will help a customer select the right flooring with a product consultation. Next, as needed, FRC will clear premises of furniture – with the option of storing at FRC provided – and remove old flooring, prep the area, install new flooring, as well as reinstall furniture. This full-service ability is supported by FRC’s 42,000-square-foot warehouse and 1,900-square-foot showroom.

In the showroom, customers can get familiar with FRC’s long list of sourced manufacturers; there is a pleFlooring Resources Corpthora of choices for carpet, resilient, hardwood, mat and specialty flooring. Resilient flooring manufacturers alone top 30; options include: VCT, sheet goods, linoleum, vinyl tiles and static dissipative tiles. Options abound in the other categories, as well.

Before any new flooring is installed, FRC will test PH and moisture levels of the cement base. Ensuring dryness before installation is important to prevent damage to flooring and surprise costs to customers. After carpet is installed, FRC offers a flooring maintenance service to help ward off the unhealthful environment known as sick building syndrome that can spring from unsanitary floors. If furniture reinstallation is needed, FRC is skilled in the assembly of panels systems, floor-to-ceiling partitions, shelving and lockers.

FRC is stocked with the most technically advanced tools and the company is carefully managed to ensure quality control. Delivery is done with the company’s own fleet of trucks, which happen to run on bio-diesel.

An Ethical and Clean Company

As an environmentally conscious company, FRC also uses real coffee mugs at the office. With more than 50 employees, that adds up to a saving of over 18,000 disposable coffee cups annually. This decision is in line with FRC’s tremendous efforts to divert waste from landfills through its recycling and reclamation services.
FRC also makes sure that the jobsite working environment is as safe and clean as possible for its installers and also any building occupants. When working in occupied spaces – like hospitals and schools – FRC was the first flooring contractor in Chicagoland to make HEPA sanders and vacuums standard on all jobsites. This is a practice many competitors have now emulated. HEPA filters minimize dust and debris, keeping air quality high. To increase safety, the company uses heavy duty safety gates and uniform gang boxes equipped with extra safety gear and emergency contact information on-site.

Because safety is paramount at FRC, the company’s installers are certified by OSHA and in CPR. The company’s commitment to safety has earned FRC several awards and its status as a preferred contractor. Additionally, employee concerns are tended to and ideas are taken seriously. For example, recently, employee-driven custom-made pallets were introduced: smaller pallets measuring 2-by-2-foot (versus the 4-by-4-foot standard), which increase employee safety due to reduced weight, and also result in greater flexibility with deliveries and elevator access.

Heavily involved in the well-being of the community, FRC supports scores of local organizations that are doing good work through financial donations, as well as free services and products. These organizations include the Wheeling Township Food Pantry, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts of America, American Cancer Society, American Red Cross, Wounded Warrior Project, Neediest Kids Christmas Fund and Special Olympics.

In keeping with its corporate culture of giving back, FRC took part in an ABC Extreme Home Makeover in the Chicago area in 2007. The company sent 40 men to the jobsite and completed the installation of 1,240 square feet of cork, 140 square feet of carpeting, 380 square feet of bamboo, 310 square feet of linoleum, two flights of carpeted stairs and three area rugs.

Affiliated, With Big Name Customers

In addition to being part of the Carpenters Union, in which Krueger himself is regularly active, FRC is affiliated with many industry organizations. The company is involved with Safety Council of Illinois, National Safety Council, ASA Chicago, INSTALL, Chicago Floor-covering Association, Carpet America Recovery Effort, Commercial Flooring Alliance, Professional Flooring Installers Association, as well as the Building Owners and Managers Association of Chicago.

FRC is also associated with some big-name companies that have relied on its services, including Google, Motorola, Kraft Foods, Navistar, as well as GE, to name a few. At the GE office in Chicago, home to GE Capital and GE Transportation, FRC completed the flooring of a massive renovation, which will allow the office to accommodate an additional 1,000 employees.

Corporate headquarters supply a bulk of FRC’s work and the company completed Catamaran’s new corporate headquarters in Schaumburg, Ill., a 300,000-square-foot facility for one of Chicago’s largest companies.

For an interesting change of pace, FRC also completed the flooring for the historic Langham Hotel, a luxury five-star hotel and well-known landmark in downtown Chicago. This project could hint at what is to come for FRC, which may be further diversification of jobsites and flooring offerings. In whatever direction the company chooses to go, customers can be sure that Flooring Resources Corporation will continue to offer good service, quality and accountability.
