Arc Electric Construction Co. Inc. (Arc Electric) celebrates 40 years in business as an electrical contractor in Northeast, Pennsylvania and beyond, servicing commercial and industrial clients, wherever needed. Michael Micene started the business from a home office in 1974, and by 1996, his daughter Elaine Judd and her late husband Robert became business partners and the family-owned and -operated company has grown and flourished into the leading electrical contractor in their area.
By the end of 2011 Mrs. Judd became president and CEO of Arc Electric; she attributes Arc Electric’s growth and outstanding reputation on the company’s commitment to deliver exceptional customer service and quality work by maintaining their integrity and no-nonsense accountability. She relies on the highly skilled, professional electricians, who take pride in their craft and an amazing support team in the office.
Arc Electric’s market niche has developed into being highly efficient in serving its manufacturing clients, especially those in the food processing industry. Complying with clients’ needs for keeping a clean work environment and safety standards, as well as Arc’s standards has enabled the company to increase its client base and also to be available to service clients wherever the location.
Arc Electric recently completed a $3.2 million project at a state-of-the-art bread processing plant. The project included providing power for the building, facility and to the equipment. Arc Electric did the teledata cabling, fiber optics, production and security camera systems, outside lighting and lighting control systems, as well as partnered with Cummings to install a 2750 KW generator.
As an added service to the company’s industrial clients, Arc Electric recently began providing annual maintenance contracts that benefit clients by having the same qualified electricians on-site based on need, provide skilled support for the maintenance departments, 24/7/365 availability, offering solutions and preventative maintenance to keep assembly lines up and running, no lost production time. “A few of our client relationships include The Hershey Co., Otis Spunkmaier, Vitaline and Graham Packaging, to name a few,” Mrs. Judd details.
Arc Electric’s relationship with the IBEW dates as far back to Mrs. Judd’s grandfather, Paul Micene, who joined Local 3 in the early 1900s. Father, husband, son, brother, uncles, cousin, father/brother-in-law and many nephews received training through the IBEW apprentice program. She can count on the highly trained and dedicated, professional electricians to provide quality installations that are affordable for today, flexible for tomorrow and incorporate up-to-date technology.
In 2006 the Judds launched a residential division to the company, creating a name, logo and protocol to appeal and cater to the needs of the ever-growing homeowner market. The Wire Guys by Arc Electric focused on putting homeowners at ease by providing only screened, well trained electricians for homes, offering up front pricing, clean up after the job is done and guaranteeing on time appointments and 112 percent cash back customer satisfaction.
The company’s presence on Angie’s List has become a great lead source where savvy homeowners not only shop, but read reviews prior to purchase. Judd reports that the performance score for The Wire Guys is 197.5 percent, which far exceeds the average rating of 98.6 percent.
Automatic standby generators have become another profitable income stream for the company. With an emphasis on factory trained electricians and bi-annual certifications the company offers a turnkey operation for sales and installations and in 2011 became the area’s only Power Pro Elite Dealer for Generac, the leading manufacturer in home generators.
Because The Wire Guys meet or exceed Generac’s stringent dealer requirements, the team receives sales and service leads directly from Generac and can offer a wide range of financing options to homeowners. From 2011 to 2013 generator sales simply exploded adding almost 200 percent more annual sales. Not only has the number of units sold/installed grown, so has the line of manufacturers/models increased to give homeowners many options. According to Judd, 2014 is on target to exceed expected goals.
Mrs. Judd and her son Greg, COO, continue the tradition of commitment to create a caring, fun, exciting and family-oriented work environment. All Arc Electric’s employees are heard, treated with respect and understand that each is cared about as an individual and that they have a life beyond their time at the company. The entire staff is encouraged and supported in their growth and development as an individual, personally, professionally, and spiritually and recognized and rewarded for their contributions to the company.
A small family-owned and -operated company in NEPA is big on integrity and always willing to go above and beyond to leave its clients 100 percent satisfied. Arc Electric and The Wire Guys remain committed to be up front with clients, never mislead, do what they say they will do and when, earning the reputation as the most desirable contractor to work with in the market. This will ensure Arc Electric Construction Co. Inc. will continue its tradition for years to come.
