For over 100 years, Schenck Fuels Services (Schenck) has been serving the East Hampton, N.Y., community by providing the best in fuel oil products and service. Over the years Schenck has adopted an abundant selection of heating and cooling products aside from oil. The Schenck team prides business on being community oriented, honest and reliable, upholding the highest standard for residential and commercial fuel and HVAC services.
Fueled by Family Ownership
“I’m the sixth generation of family ownership,” details Christian Schenck, CFO of Schenck. “Schenck was established by my great-great-grandfather. We got our start in fuel but also grain, oats and hay. My grandfather saw the direction the oil industry was moving in and for a while, all we did was deliver oil. Over the years we got into the service side of the business with our own heating equipment and air conditioning because our customers asked for it.”
Over the 111 years the company has been doing business, Schenck has seen the transitioned from wood to coal to recent solar energy, withstanding the test of time by surviving the Great Depression and two world wars.
“Our family continues to pride ourselves in excellent service,” stresses Chris Schenck, Christian’s father and CEO of Schenck. “We value the relationships we’ve built with our customers. They know that they can count on us at all hours of the day and night, year-round.”
The company also performs new construction work, as well as HVAC service and maintenance. “We’ve done upward of 14,000 square feet of new home installations,” adds Chris. Today, Schenck services the community it calls home, including the Hamptons and Long Island with an office based in East Hampton, N.Y.
“We employ a skilled team of approximately 30 HVAC specialists,” reveals Chris. “Our location has helped us fair well through the economic downturn because there is a lot of money out here; it’s a very rich area. We’re often servicing homes of the rich and famous, which requires great responsibility and care. Generally, we stick to the eastern end of Long Island because there’s a main road that gets us in and out, so it doesn’t make sense for us to leave.”
The Schenck team has a deep connection the East Hampton and surrounding areas, and supports the community in every way possible. “We are sponsors of the Artist Alliance of East Hampton,” details Chris. “We are also members of the East Hampton Business Alliance and the local Chamber of Commerce. In addition, our Schenck fuel men won the 2011 men’s softball championship in East Hampton.” Knowledge of the community, service with a personal touch and a familiar face make Schenck a local standout.
Personalized Service
Schenck’s highly trained, industry-certified technicians go through rigorous training to become the best at what they do. The company promises a two-hour service response guarantee, ensuring customers can rest assured that HVAC problem will be taken care with speed and precision.
This promise has made Schenck one of the most recognized companies on Long Island. “Our customer service staff is on call 24 hours a day because we understand what it’s like to be a customer in need,” explains Chris. “Our representatives ensure our clients are 100 percent satisfied on each and every call.”
Schenck performs consultation, installation and maintenance of high efficiency equipment and systems with its 24-hour emergency services guarantee. “Home heating oil has become incredibly efficient over the past decade,” details Chris. “With our quality installations of new, highly effective equipment we can promise our customers efficiency levels of over 95 percent in certain cases.”
The company also provides the same 24 hours a day, 7 days a week promise to commercial clients. Schenck also specializes in large-scale refrigeration systems, including walk-ins, water chillers and industrial freezers, bait and lobster coolers, as well as commercial exhaust fans.
Schenck also has all of the qualifications for customer’s needs at the team’s disposal. The company’s technicians are fully trained to service residential cesspools, commercial-sized cesspools and grease traps. Whether it’s an emergency pump or a regular basis, Schenck’s cesspool service has clients covered with the same service guarantee the company has promised since 1902.
Chris sees a bright future for his family-run operation. “I’ve been in this business since I was a kid,” he says. “From the time when we had a pile of coal in the backyard I would play in and my mother would be appalled. I think every generation needs to add something to the business. When I took over we were just dabbling in HVAC, now look at the operation.”
Schenck has made great strides over the century-long haul. “We’re now fully capable in new construction, cesspools and we’re looking to improve our solar division,” adds Chris. For over 111 years, the family-centered operation has made an effort to be an avid presence in the community, delivering trusted service with a familiar face. Schenck Fuels Services will continue to serve the local community by providing the best in fuel oil products and service.
