Norris Sales Company Incorporated

The One-stop Shop for Contractor Equipment and Supplies

Since 1956 Norris Sales Company Incorporated (Norris Sales) has been the go-to source for equipment rentals, sales, service, parts and training. Today, Norris Sales is owned by the father and daughter team of Don and Karen Zajick.

“We’ve grown from 20 employees in 1999 to 80 currently, and we have expanded a lot of product lines over the last five years to serve a diverse customer base,” shares Karen, vice president of Norris Sales. “We support every type of contractor out there, from utility to site work, building and everyone in between. Our goal has always been to offer a one-stop shop that satisfies customers’ needs.”

Norris Sales truly runs the gamut when it comes to a broad range of rentals, as well as new and used equipment. “We offer a variety of compaction and excavation equipment, from rollers to dumpers and excavators to wheeled loaders,” notes Karen. “We have a full line of equipment and we’re a longtime skid steer and mini excavator dealer. We have a large fleet of lifts, telehandlers, backhoes, light towers, compressors and generators; we pretty much have everything.”

According to Karen, the company’s top product lines have always been: Wacker Neuson, Gehl, Toro Dingo, JLG, Sullivan Palatek and Honda. “We also do a lot with Diamond Products and Stihl,” she continues.

Backed by Experience

The company’s diverse offerings are backed by some of the most qualified professionals in the business. “My dad, Don, has been with the company since 1970,” Karen explains. “The service manager at the Plymouth Meeting headquarters in Pennsylvania has been with the company since 1978.”

Karen is proud to note that Norris Sales just celebrated its 10-year anniversary in Sicklerville, N.J. “The head of the service department there has been with Norris Sales since we established the office,” she says. “Our general manager there started in our Pennsylvania location two years prior to the opening of Sicklerville location.”

From these two locations, Norris Sales serves customers throughout Philadelphia, the surrounding counties and into northern New Jersey. “We have two locations, but we are one, united company,” details Karen. “The two offices allow us to cover the complete greater Philadelphia area extremely well.”

Additionally, the company’s equipment is maintained in-house, and Karen explains that Norris Sales maintains its new fleet by turning over machines with more hours. Norris Sales understands that timely, effective repairs can make or break an operation.

“Efficiency and accuracy is the mission of our top-rated service department,” says Karen. “Factory-trained mechanics service everything we sell and rent, including most makes and models of light- and mid-sized construction equipment. We also offer 24-hour road service for rental emergencies and stock parts from all major vendors.”

Karen assures the company’s customers value its wide-ranging, in-house expertise. “Our experience truly sets us apart,” she says. “Our products are coveted by our customers, because they know they can trust the quality and they know we have the experience to back it up.”

Longstanding Rapports

As the middleman between vendors and customers, Karen says reputation is a huge factor of Norris Sales’ success. “Our reputation and building excellent relationships is of the utmost importance,” she shares. “We work hard every day to foster good partnerships from vendors to longstanding customers.”

Part of keeping customers close for years on end is staying in-tune with individual ever-changing needs. “The satisfaction of our customers is our biggest indicator of how we’re doing,” says Karen. “We frequently send out polls to see how we can help, but it all comes back to the dedication of our workforce, because they’re the ones making people happy at the end of the day. Norris Sales has at least 22 individuals who have been with the company for a decade or more, and it shows.”

The dedication of Norris Sales’ team has significantly contributed to the company’s ability to overcome tough economic times. “We weathered the recession internally by battening down the hatches,” Karen says. “In the end, it’s made us more diligent and we’ve changed our product lines to respond to the changing needs of our customers. We have to be responsive to the fact that contractors are going after different work than before the recession.”

After 57 years supporting all walks of contractors, Norris Sales Company Incorporated continues to rely on longstanding employees, customers and the family ownership that has driven the operation since 1956.
