A multipurpose company in Poughkeepsie, New York

“One company; one solution.”  That is the motto of LCS Companies. Located in Poughkeepsie, New York, LCS began as a cleaning service company founded by Joe Lepore. Since its inception in 2001, LCS has grown into a multiservice company specializing in numerous cleaning and maintenance services for clients throughout the Northeast.

When Lepore founded LCS, the company had one steam truck with which the team performed carpet cleaning services for landlords and property owners. He soon discovered that there was a demand for multiple services for his clients such as snow removal and landscaping. “We started to notice that after we would complete a cleaning job for a client, many of them would ask if we knew a good landscaper or a good snow removal company,” says Lepore. “We found that our customers really enjoyed the aspect of receiving one invoice.”

A talented team

With 300 employees, LCS maintains separate divisions for each type of service it provides. “Our people are not ‘jacks of all trades’,” says Lepore. “We have people that have expertise in each field whether it’s a landscaping job or a maintenance project, our people are highly skilled in their division. Whether it’s janitorial or maintenance-oriented, we have the proper management in place to run those divisions.”

LCS and Lepore have received numerous recognitions over the years. In 2014 Lepore was awarded the Business Person of the Year award by the Poughkeepsie Journal and the company has received the Certificate of Mayoral Recognition from the city of Poughkeepsie on numerous occasions. “The recognition is nice but it’s all about customer satisfaction for us,” says Lepore. “When a customer comments on how well we did a certain job, that is the best kind of recognition.”

LCSs’ cleaning division is equipped to handle a variety of projects. In the health care field, LCS has works in physicians’ offices, outpatient facilities, hospitals and clinics. With a focus on a clean and safe work environment, LCS provides ongoing training to ensure its staff is fully equipped. The company provides ongoing medical compliance and training that remains unique to LCS. The company’s cleaning division also works in institutional, commercial and industrial facilities.

In 2005 LCS established its landscaping division in order to continue its one-stop shop approach. Although the company is located in the Hudson Valley it will travel all over the country to work with construction companies that it has established relationships with.

The LCS landscape division employs professionally trained designers that work closely with every client as to ensure that every need is met. The company’s exquisitely designed and executed grounds add to the quality and value of each property.  “Our construction crews are true craftsmen,” says Lepore. “We also often work with landscape architects and have completed many projects with many leading designers in the region.”

LCS also provides snow removal to its commercial clients. During the winter, the LCS staff is on call 24/7 and all members are licensed and certified members of Snow & Ice Management Association and Certified Snow Professionals.

While LCS is set up to perform a majority of its work in-house, depending on the season, the company will occasionally hire subcontracted companies to complete cleaning services. “We also run a recruiting program in the summer,” explains Lepore. “This works out well for us and for the community because we get the help that we need and provide a lot of kids with jobs for the summer.”

Setting an example

Lepore began his career in the industry when he was 18 years old and went to work for a nursing home in the housekeeping department. He would go on to work his way up to becoming a manager until decided to leave and join Marriot. “I worked for Marriott for 16 years and learned a lot about the industry,” recounts Lepore. “I’ve followed the customer service model set forth by Bill Marriot. When it comes to this business setting a high level of customer service is really what gives me the biggest sense of pride.”

As the company moves forward, Lepore is planning to continue to expand LCSs’ geographical footprint. While the company works nationally with its landscaping division, LCS will expand its reach with its other divisions. “We’re looking to expand our contract work to the surrounding states of New York,” says Lepore. “Our goal is to ultimately become a national company with the hope of even becoming international someday.”

While the company continues to grow, LCS Companies will continue to build upon its business model of providing exceptional customer service.
