Larry Snyder & Company

Building Trust... Since 1978

Larry Snyder and Company (LS&C) offers clients full service general contracting and specializes in commercial and industrial construction. LS&C is comprised of two companies, the building division and the site development division (incorporated as LS&C Development Services). Some of the company’s specialties include vacation resorts, schools, banks, theaters, affordable multifamily housing and occasional renovations.

The way that Larry Snyder, owner of LS&C, tells it, he ended up in the construction industry by accident. “I was in real estate, and a friend of mine convinced me to start a construction company with him. Pretty soon, I was bringing in more business than the company could handle. So I sold my portion of the business to him, waited a year, and then opened my own construction company.”

The company has been a success ever since that day in February 1978. LS&C is based out of Ozark, Mo., and employs roughly 50 personnel. Snyder estimates his employees grossed around $20 million in sales in 2010.

Three Divisions Create Full-service Company

LS&C Development Services focuses on heavy construction and specializes in mass excavation work, rock-blasting, underground utilities and treatment plants. Midwest Mining performs stripping and reclamation services, with a large fleet of heavy equipment. The mining division works closely with the site development division to allow the completion of larger projects. The additions of the site development division and the mining division enhance LS&C to a new level of service for its customers. These services give LS&C the ability to get projects out of the ground efficiently for clients.

According to Snyder, the company has become a success over the years due to its impressive assembly of employees. “I’ll be the first to tell you that I’m not a construction guru, but what I am very good at is bringing in new business. Now that wouldn’t do me any good if I didn’t have the best team in the region to be able to construct our projects. When we complete a project, we make sure that it’s a high-quality project that has been completed on time and on budget,” boasts Snyder.

Snyder says that his work crews typically complete projects in Missouri and its surrounding states. However, the company is licensed in 26 states and has successfully completed projects as far away as Massachusetts and Florida. “For certain clients, we’ll travel anywhere. Repeat business is extremely important to us,” continues Snyder.

LS&C completed an affordable housing complex in Claremore, Okla. Avondale Estates is located on a site that covers eight-acres and the company built 36 one-bedroom, one-bath units and 24 two-bedroom, two-bath units. A 1,400-square foot clubhouse was also built on site to house many amenities for residents. Each unit is equipped with washer/dryer hookups, private patios and a refrigerator with an included ice maker. The housing complex also provides 24-hour onsite maintenance, as well as onsite management for its residents.

Resort in Western Massachusetts

LS&C also completed renovations on the high-end Oak ‘n Spruce Resort set in the peaceful beauty of the Berkshires in western Massachusetts. The resort is set amid 200-acres at the foot of Beartown State Forest. The resort has a three-hole chip-and-putt golf course, two tennis courts and a trout stream. The resort also includes two indoor pools and one outdoor pool, as well as exercise equipment. The resort is strategically located amidst many activities. The nearby town of Stockbridge is home to the Norman Rockwell Museum and the Chesterwood Museum. In the winter, visitors enjoy cross-country skiing. Also, not too far from the resort is Butternut Basin, Catamount Ski Area, or Brodie Mountain, where visitors can also downhill ski.

Snyder is proud to note LS&C was engaged in the Carl Junction Community Center, in Carl Junction, Mo. The rapidly growing community passed a bond issue in 2008 that was used to build the community’s first community center. The project cost $4.1 million and contains a new city hall. This multi-purpose building brings three services under one roof and fulfills what the citizens have requested for several years.

The community center also houses a media center, community meeting room, health and wellness center and a gymnasium. The building was constructed with expansion in mind. If one of the programs or activities needs more room, it can be easily added onto the adjacent land that is available for more buildings.

In spite of the fact that his company has remained busy throughout the economic downturn, Snyder still stays active in his local community. Snyder has been on the board of Ozark Technical College for many years and served as President of the Board for two of those years.

From working on community centers and affordable housing projects to high-end resorts located all over the country, Larry Snyder has ensured that Larry Snyder & Company’s work has enriched the lives of a wide variety of people all over the U.S.
