Headquartered in West Palm Beach, Florida, J. Crompton Electric Inc. has grown into one of the largest telecommunication electrical and general contracting firms in the state. In just 16 years, the company has gained numerous high-profile clients. With additional offices in Tampa and Orlando, J. Crompton Electric, Inc. has worked in every aspect of the wireless industry including – but not limited to – Full-service electrical contracting, fiber installation and testing, tower erection, line and antenna installation, civil, DAS/Small Cells and turnkey generator installations.

J. Crompton Electric was founded by Jonathan Crompton and his wife, Elizabeth. After growing up in the electrical industry, working with his father out of high school in Connecticut and then working in Florida for several years, Crompton decided that he was ready to set out on his own. As it turns out, timing was on his side, as Crompton started out the telecommunications industry was primed to take off as one of the fastest-growing industries in the country. “I immediately gained a client that was soon bought out by Verizon Wireless,” Crompton recalls. “That worked out really well because I immediately had a niche within the industry.”

Standing out

A unique aspect of J. Crompton Electric is the fact that the company is a turn-key telecommunications contractor. “We build the roads, erect the towers and provide all electrical facets of each project,” Crompton explains. J. Crompton Electric possesses the capability to self-perform a majority of its work. The company has its own civil division, which builds the necessary structures, as well as concrete foundations. “We have just been awarded our largest project to date with Verizon, which includes working on the Advanced Wireless Service [AWS] upgrade project.” This project consists of 240 sites throughout the state of Florida where workers are modifying and upgrading the 2100 frequency on AWS.

J. Crompton Electric has worked on many notable projects that include work performed at American Airlines Arena, Walt Disney World parks, Marlins Stadium, Amway Arena and the Daytona Speedway, to name a few.

J. Crompton Electric places the safety of its workers as a top priority, which shows through its immaculate safety record. With the risk factors involved in cell tower new builds, upgrades and maintenance, Crompton has invested heavily in education and training for every individual working on his team. Every member of his crew is aware of all safety requirements and is well trained before every job.

“You have to meet certain safety criteria to even bid on jobs in this industry” says Crompton. “Being a company of 80 employees and moving at the pace that we do requires a lot of education and training in safety. We offer apprenticeship programs for dedicated employees who want to further their careers as electricians. Additionally, all of our workers go through extensive safety training from orientation to on the job training, classroom training such as a Radio Frequency safety training we just completed, company wide. Safety is always a top concern.”
