Expert Project Execution

Delta’s true specialty lies in project management of remote and resource challenged jobs. “We put our arctic expertise to work, providing a full spectrum of consulting, project management, construction and operations that support our client’s project goals,” shares Conway. “In the oil and gas industry, schedule performance is very important. Our clients look to us to deliver their projects on time. We live in a schedule-driven world; you have to keep moving forward.”

During the execution phase of projects, Delta’s project management teams work to identify, source, procure, monitor and prioritize resources, including equipment, facilities, storage, lay down areas, utilities and materials. Delta utilizes its proven project management approach to produce the project execution plans, detailed estimates, health and safety plans, logistics, material management and waste management logistics that align project stakeholders to performance objectives.

The team at Delta oversees work for a broad range of oil and gas producers, from those just getting started to some of the world’s largest firms. “We put our pool of talent to work supporting projects through program management and through our professional staffing service,” explains Conway. “We are also growing the professional staffing service side of our business. Our clients are excited with our ability to bring on people that are fit for the position. Over the last 30 years the relationships we have built give us access to people that another staffing company wouldn’t have access to. We’ve found a way to help fill this gap for our clients.”

Delta Answers the Call

Although the company is deeply rooted in its home state, Delta has operations in North Dakota, Canada and Texas. “Our roots began on Alaska’s remote North Slope, but our approach to project management and focus on our clients has led to other opportunities outside of the state,” adds Rick Hyce, vice president of construction. “We’re currently are growing Delta in North Dakota and Canada supporting our client’s upstream developments.”

Delta is currently providing senior management positions on a project in Alberta, Canada, for a major oil and gas firm. The project is a critical step in accessing Canada’s oil sands, using steam-assisted gravity drainage to recover the valuable resource.

With many large projects either in the works, or already added to the company’s diverse portfolio, Delta is focused on growth. “We’re growing at a nice steady pace,” admits Gohr “We’ve doubled in size every six months for the last year-and-a-half. We plan on seeing more of the same in the next couple of years.”

The next big thing on the horizon for Delta is a series of large contracts supporting Bakken Oil in North Dakota. “We continue to perform for our clients,” details Hyce. “We have about 110 guys down here performing electrical, mechanical and insulation services involved with installing pump jacks, tank batteries and treater units. So far, we’ve tied in over 80 well sites. Our approach uses satellite locations set up to house our guys, equipment and control our material. We’re used to setting up in a location that’s remote and spread out. I’m proud of our core team of supervisors. They work hard to ensure everything is up to our high quality standards.”

 With the recent favorable tax changes in Alaska, Delta expects to see an increase in project opportunities. According to Gohr, Conway and Hyce, oil and gas companies have already announced major projects that are slated to go now that Alaska is competitive regarding overall economic opportunities. Delta focuses on earning the respect of its clients for the long haul by doing quality work on every project and doing it safely. “We don’t look at our jobs as just a well site out in a faraway place,” shares Hyce. “It’s really part of a bigger relationship. We know if we treat our clients’ right, they’ll treat us right.
