There might not be a worse feeling than realizing a minor electrical outage caused the sump pump to shut down and all of the building’s back-up generators failed to engage, leaving the building flooded with six inches of muddy water. Luckily, when this very situation happened to the Cathedral of Hope Church in Dallas, Texas, Dalworth Restoration was only a phone call away. Within only a few hours the Dalworth Restoration team had mobilized to begin the restoration process.
The company is one of the Dallas-Fort Worth area’s premier restoration, reconstruction and remediation companies with over 35 years of experience and the kind of service only a family-owned and -operated company can provide.
“We just love what we do and we’re fortunate enough to have employees who have been with us for a long time,” says Shane Hobbs, co-owner of Dalworth Restoration. Hobbs co-owns the company with his brother-in-laws James and Rob Smith, who founded the company in 1976. What began as a carpet-cleaning company gradually evolved into a complete water damage restoration company, which ultimately led the team to pursue full-on construction projects.
The company has since added specialties in fire damage restoration, mold and mildew remediation, crawl space encapsulation, contents restoration and property reconstruction services to the mix for both residential and commercial properties.
It has been the Dalworth Restoration team’s reliable, responsive and respectful service throughout its history that has earned the company glowing testimonials and a consistently good standing with the Better Business Bureau. In the case of the Cathedral of Hope, Dalworth Restoration crews made sure to use only one layer of paneling to replace the damaged drywall and keep costs down. The construction crews made sure to lay paper down atop all affected areas and schedule major repairs so that Sunday services could proceed without interruption.
Ready to Go
Every minute makes a difference in the immediate aftermath of a major disaster and Dalworth Restoration staffs its Dallas headquarters with experienced professionals 24/7/365 to be prepared to mobilize whenever disaster strikes. The company’s reconstruction team runs the professional gamut of electricians, carpenters, framers, drywall specialists, cabinetmakers and roofers so clients don’t have to stress about dealing with multiple subcontractors.
Dalworth Restoration recognizes that the contents of a damaged building are just as important, if not more important, than the building itself. The company operates a state-of-the-art contents processing center equipped with technology for cryogenic freezing, vacuum freeze drying and specialized cleaning to salvage water damaged books, media and documents. The team has been known to go above and beyond, and acknowledges that restoration services can actually cost less than complete replacement and can also help customers salvage irreplaceable items.
Dalworth Restoration also entered the realm of large commercial losses and restoration roughly 12 years ago and has since completed projects in the greater Dallas-Fort Worth area in the wake of tornadoes, flooding and fires. “We recently completed work on a 100,000-square foot facility that was totally flooded after a water main beneath the building broke,” recalls Hobbs. “The client needed the building up and running in just two days to host a week-long training orientation and we did it.”
Investing Internally
Each of the team’s processes begins with extensive professional training programs in water damage remediation. “We essentially build two houses inside a warehouse and recreate damage scenarios,” admits Hobbs. Professionals use the same equipment and testing methods in the test houses as in the field, giving the group the confidence to accurately assess the extent of the damage to furniture, drywall, hardwood flooring, carpeting and tile. Trainees use the same extraction techniques to rid the test houses of water, followed swiftly with armies of dehumidifiers and structural drying equipment.
It might cost more to run training operations in-house, but Dalworth Restoration doesn’t believe in splitting hairs over numbers when it pays out in better service. “We just cross out the lowest bidders because we believe in that quality, and relationships last longer than low prices,” says Hobbs.
Dalworth Restoration’s vertical integration and esteemed reputation positioned the company for record performance in the past few years, most recently from heavy rains and tornadoes in March 2012. Dalworth Restoration was on-call and mobilized within moments of receiving calls during the disastrous weather. The Dalworth Restoration team has been working with clients ever since to restore commercial and residential properties, which has opened the door to the possibility of further diversification in the coming years. “We definitely plan to grow, but it might be in a slightly different direction that before,” admits Hobbs.
Still, Dalworth Restoration’s primary focus will continue to be on residential and commercial properties, and providing swift response to damage. The entire Dalworth Restoration professional family’s ability to provide reliable, responsive and respectful service will keep the company in good standing with consumers and strategic partners.
