Clem N Sons Concrete

Quality Cement Services

Clem N Sons Concrete (CNSC) is a family-owned specialty contractor based in Englewood, Colo. Englewood is about 10 miles outside of Denver allowing CNSC to serve the Denver metropolitan area and a span of central Colorado ranging from Fort Collins to Colorado Springs. CNSC performs a diverse array of commercial construction projects within the concrete domain.

John Clemenson, founder and CEO of CNSC, says the company has been operating since 2010. Though CNSC is fairly new, Clemenson previously ran a company called Concrete Foundations, which was in business for over 30 years.

As all good things do, his first company came to an end, just so that CNSC could prosper. Today Clemenson runs CNSC with his sons, Shaun and Chris. Between the three of them, Clemenson estimates they have over 70 years of experience in the concrete business.

This experience has allowed CNSC to perform projects in both the commercial and residential markets. “We do everything from back yard patios to industrial footings,” says Clemenson. He and his CNSC team pride themselves on a standard of quality that remains consistent, regardless of the size or complexity of a project.

A Promising Portfolio

The company has not been in business long, but CNSC has already laid the foundation for success. Clemenson has built a network of positive relationships with regional general contractors, many of who reach out to CNSC for a number of new construction and remodeling needs. The CNSC team has worked repeatedly with local giants like Gerald H. Phipps Construction, the contractor responsible for Invesco Field (now known as Sports Authority Field) at Mile High, home of the Denver Broncos. CNSC has also completed projects with the Opus Group, a commercial and large-scale residential builder. The company’s well recognized and distinctly established relationship is something that the entire Clemenson family can be proud of.

The team’s reputation and pride has kept CNSC busy. “We recently finished work on the Alfalfa’s in Boulder,” Clemenson recounts. Alfalfa’s is a specialty natural foods market that puts emphasis on whole, local and natural meat, vegetables and more. The store includes multiple freezer sections, bakeries, delis, hot food service and an outdoor patio for café customers.

In addition, CNSC is also involved in the construction of Josephine Commons, a new community planned by the Boulder Housing Authority. The community has been designed to function as a multiple-income level neighborhood catering to individuals and families of all ages, and will include a variety of housing options. Rental and private ownership will be available for apartments, condos, single-family houses and townhomes. Amenities include ample parking, park-like greens and community gardens to seal any deal.

Other recent projects include major remodeling projects of local Target retail stores. CNSC has completed concrete work for three of the upgraded Super Targets, which include new grocery sections and rearranged departments. As if the numerous big names aren’t enough, CNSC’s portfolio also includes a number of retailers, schools and commercial residential buildings.

Piling up Experience

CNSC has seen a pattern of steady growth over the last few years, despite challenges rooted in the country’s economic slump. The construction industry has suffered considerably, but Clemenson and his sons offer a level of experience and attention to detail that give the company an advantage over the competition.

CNSC operates out of a single location in Englewood, where 25 specialists and laborers are capable of performing each job in-house. “We have foremen assigned to all of our commercial projects,” Clemenson explains. Keeping projects on schedule is important in developing relationships with contractors and clients and these site managers ensure everything is running smoothly and safely.

Diversity in services also plays a major role in CNSC’s success. The company performs structural concrete construction as well as decorative. The contractor offers colored and stamped concrete options to provide aesthetic qualities to projects, helping clients and contractors reach a final product that matches an owner’s vision for the project.

Though CNSC has no major plans for grand expansion, Clemenson believes that the company is on track for steady growth. “In Colorado and especially Denver the economy is starting to come back around,” he says. “We’re seeing the beginnings of a construction boom.” Consumer confidence is on the rise and companies and individuals are starting to loosen the purse strings, making room for more new construction and long delayed upgrades to facilities and homes.

Clemenson has been in the concrete business since 1972 when he started as a laborer and worked his way up to ownership at his previous company. Clemenson is excited to share his experience and knowledge with his sons while working with them on this relatively new venture. Luckily for him, Shaun and Chris share their father’s knack for innovation and networking.

CNSC carries family values of fairness, honesty and pride in work to every job site. The company aims to provide the highest level of quality to its clients, and has found success in doing so. Clem N Sons Concrete is a growing force in the Denver area’s construction industry, completing even the most challenging projects with hard work and integrity.
