C&D Insulation & Energy Services

The only one-stop shop contractor for commercial and industrial insulation, scaffolding, and abatement

C&D Insulation and Energy Services has successfully serviced clients’ needs throughout Colorado and the Rocky Mountain Region for nearly 25 years. As one of the leading commercial and industrial insulation contractors in the region, C&D provides mechanical insulations services for virtually every type of project, including new and remodel construction of mechanical insulation systems for both industrial and commercial facilities, removable insulation blanket fabrication, electrical heat tracing, fire stop applications, abatement, oil and gas, and scaffolding.

C&D’s projects have ranged across many economic sectors, including hospitality, food processing, government, institutional, commercial, medical, manufacturing, transportation and industrial sites such as refineries, power plants, mines and renewable-energy sites. Through it all, C&D ensures high-quality energy loss prevention through insulation methods that meet all client needs.

C&D Insulation & Energy Services

“We offer our clients custom applications to fit any insulation and energy-saving situations they might have,” said Chad Habegger, partner and general manager. “Additionally, our complimentary budget numbers, consultations, estimates and evaluations, specification analysis gives clients an edge with industry-proven recommendations for unique and challenging projects.”

It all started in 1992 when Habegger and David Roy founded C&D Insulation, which first operated with a single pickup truck. After 10 years in business, the company had grown to 30 employees and $3 million in annual revenue.

Fast forward to 2014 when Ryan Barker and Marc Wood purchased the company and recruited Habegger to stay on as an equity partner and general manager. Under the new leadership, C&D established its niche as being the only company to perform commercial insulation along with its full range of services. In addition, the company immediately expanded its reach in the marketplace, added three estimators to its team, and created a solid benefits package to retain in-demand employees.  Today, C&D employs more than 200 workers and has annual revenue of more than $20 million.

One-stop shop

Since 2014, C&D has capitalized on the commercial market and quickly become one of the top contractors in the industry. To continue its growth trajectory, C&D ventured into the industrial insulation  and scaffolding markets. The company brought on Israel Sanchez, an industrial construction management expert, as a partner to help increase capabilities and push into new markets. In addition, C&D purchased 38-year-old Colorado Scaffolding & Equipment Company to further expand its scaffolding services.

To round out its full service offerings, C&D also provides fire-stopping needs, abatement and remediation services. By utilizing advanced technologies as well as cost-efficient products and systems, C&D’s installations help to slow the spread of fires and protect all building elements.

Staying strong

Colorado’s booming construction industry allows C&D to maintain a strong backlog of work, providing plenty of job opportunities for its employees. “This backlog is really a finger on the pulse of the company and industry,” says Barker. “It also tells us that we have a strong reputation throughout the industry and that our work is in demand.”

While the recession hurt the construction industry, C&D has been able to capitalize on the economic downturn. “For us, it opened up a situation for aggressive pricing,” Wood says. “Incumbent companies are hard to buck until people are really looking to save money. The industrial downturn has helped us to gain traction.”

All four partners say their favorite aspect of the company is the opportunity to work with an experienced and dedicated management team. “It’s really such a great team to work with,” Sanchez says. “Everybody here takes great pride in what they do and there is a major element of teamwork.”

Some of C&D’s recent notable projects have included St. Joseph’s hospital in Denver, the Microsoft Data Center in Wyoming and numerous power plant projects for General Electric. C&D Insulation & Energy Services has an aggressive growth strategy in place for its energy services and scaffolding divisions, and has its eye set on continuing to be the top one-stop shopping contractor and industry leader that clients can trust and appreciate.
