The Carey family has been involved with heating and air conditioning since William Carey founded Carey & Walsh Inc. (C&W) in 1944. The family-owned and -operated company has specialized in the comfort of the community since day one. The C&W team couples the most advanced heating, cooling and ventilation systems on the market with decades-long expertise to ensure no home or office will ever feel anything less than perfect. The company operates with a philosophy based on old-fashioned teamwork and an ingrained commitment to simply doing the right thing.

C&W calls the town of Briarcliff Manor, N.Y., home. From there, the team is happy to travel across Westchester County and into the surrounding areas for clients in need. C&W staffs approximately 80 professionals, but as a union-affiliated company can pick up as many professionals as needed to ensure a successful project. “We can easily run more than 100 employees if needed, but our main concern is doing the right job and providing a good service to the customer,” admits Scott Carey, a corporate officer for C&W.

The company has structured its services to ensure total coverage for every client. C&W will field requests for new construction installations of heating, cooling, humidification, dehumidification and air purification systems, and the team will also perform high-quality replacements. The company provides in-home estimates free of charge and works only with reliable products from leading manufacturers like York, a company with 135 years of experience and products that boast the Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval.

Reliable, Responsive

C&W represents York products as part of the company’s dealership network. However, the C&W team has been trained to service all makes and models of equipment, often the same day a service request is made. After normal business hours, the team is on call 24 hours a day to handle emergency repairs and C&W will devise an appropriate service agreement plan to ensure regular maintenance keeps major system failures at bay.

The company works with both residential and commercial clients, allowing all to rest assured that the C&W team will complete repairs and service with great respect for the homeowner, as the company has previously installed and serviced equipment in high-traffic facilities such as hospitals and schools. “We have been working with many of our customers for years because our clients trust us,” asserts Carey. “We’re reliable and respectful, and we’re willing to handle any size project.”

The company regularly conducts building surveys and system evaluations to determine the health of a client’s HVAC equipment. The team works to ensure all of its recommendations can be as affordable as possible. The company emphasizes the importance of an energy-efficient system, but the company also recognizes that investing in a new heating and cooling system can be a big purchase.

C&W has always worked with suppliers to deliver competitive pricing, but in recent years the emphasis on making services as affordable as possible have ramped up. Offering a credit card for service work provides consumers access to immediate credit approval through a simple application process. In addition, qualifying applicants benefit from low monthly payments and additional in-house financing opportunities to offset the initial investment.

Thinking Ahead

Even if a perfect solution can’t be found from C&W’s off-the-shelf solutions, the team can fabricate components from a full-equipped sheet metal shop at headquarters. In fact, electrical wiring is the only component for which C&W regularly calls in outside help. “It always depends on the job in question, but we do have a handful of contact we can reach out to that understand our approach,” adds Carey.

The company’s unwavering emphasis on quality workmanship has paid off over the years. In the early 2000s the company was tapped to provide its expertise on the concoction of a new training facility for the New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden. The training facility sprawls across 105,000 square feet, is decked out with state-of-the-art video editing equipment, and has 1,800 square feet of cardiovascular and weight training space, steam rooms, a cold plunge and a whirlpool tub, all heated and cooled thanks to C&W.

C&W’s insistence on keeping as much of each project’s work in-house has helped the company survive throughout the economic downturn. “We have noticed an increase in new installations and replacement this year, but the economy has definitely been tough and it has taken a lot of fine-tuning to compete,” says Carey.

Carey is happy to note a marked increase in 2012 in the number of available opportunities for C&W. Backed by a sterling reputation and over 65 years of experience, the multitalented team at Carey & Walsh Inc. will continue to push for responsive service and reliable HVAC systems, keeping every client cool and comfortable.
