Founded in 1969 by Daniel E. Adache, Adache Group offers integrated architecture and interior design services, such as strategy, programming and planning. Shifting toward a greener future

Working in numerous industries and markets, Adache CEO, George Fletcher points out that there are several trends that are taking shape in the construction industry. “The latest trend in hospitality is dual-branding,” he shares. “Hotel groups and franchises are now building facilities with different levels of luxuries and services in order to cater to different markets.”

Fletcher also notes that with urban populations becoming more environmentally conscious, municipalities are focusing on methods that cater to the approach of “car dieting,” which is the utilization of public transportation in order to reduce carbon emissions produced by millions of automobiles. “We basically work with municipalities to reduce parking requirements,” Fletcher explains. “The millennial generation is more concerned with Wi-Fi and mobile connectivity. In the past it wasn’t uncommon to have two or three roommates to a unit and each had their own car. We’re finding that is not so much the case anymore. Units are smaller and the neighborhood is their living room.”

As of May 2016, Adache Group has been involved in the redevelopment of a shopping mall in Fort Lauderdale called LIVE Galleria. The redevelopment is inspired by the evolution of the typical American mall. With many malls across the country becoming dormant due to retailers no longer wanting to be part of the indoor mall experience, many malls are creating an open-air environment. As LIVE Galleria has been experiencing similar effects, Adache Group is involved in adding residential components to the 42-acre site, adding critical mass to support the retailers.

“If people live right there they can shop, dine and go to the movies there as well,” says Fletcher. “Currently the majority of malls are in an urban sprawl setting surrounded by large parking lots. We are redeveloping unsightly surface parking lots into residential communities.”

The redevelopment of LIVE Galleria will ultimately transform the existing shopping mall and surrounding area into an interactive, engaging community creating a multiuse world-class destination for the entire community to enjoy. The property will include more than 8 acres of community accessible open green space with activity centers where LIVE Galleria and Fort Lauderdale residents, as well as tourists, can enjoy the engaging activities in a lush, green walkable environment.

A new generation

With trends in design and construction evolving as quickly as ever, the millennial generation presents a variation in what employees are seeking from an employer. Fletcher and Adache Group choose to embrace the younger generation as many philosophies and approaches present innovative ideas to the market. “Millennials are looking for a lot of flexibility with their work schedules,” says Fletcher. “They also prefer not to have individualized workspaces, and are more about interacting with co-workers and creating an exciting work atmosphere. They are also looking for firms that have the latest technology that challenge their skills.”

Adache Group has adapted to the millennial market with aspects such as having a flexible schedule, entertaining education programs and special training sessions. “On a weekly basis people from outside the company present lunch-and-learn programs that introduce new systems and technologies,” shares Fletcher. “We’re constantly upgrading our software programs.”

With 37 employees, all ranging in age, Adache Group has maintained a strong employee retention, which has enabled the sharing of wisdom when younger people join the company. “Many of our employees have been here for a long time,” says Fletcher. “Our work is very exciting and rewarding because it covers all markets domestic and international.”

Fletchers refers to Margaritaville Beach Resort in Hollywood Beach, as an exciting project Adache Group recently completed. The Buffet-inspired resort is five times larger than its sister resort hotel in the Florida Panhandle. The new 17-story resort features 349 guest rooms, six restaurants, a full-service spa and fitness center, a 30,000-square-foot convention/conference area capable of seating 2,300 and an outdoor, themed pool complex.

The innovative work completed by Adache Group has not gone unnoticed. In 2014 the company was awarded Architect of the Year for Excellence in Construction by the Florida East Coast chapter of the Associated Builders & Contractors. In the same year, the company was awarded Project of the Year by the South Florida Chapter of the International Interior Design Association.
